Valentine Series: Episode 1 (Matchbook Holder)

Remember elementary school? Specifically the week leading up to Valentine's Day when your mom or dad took you to the store to pick out valentines for the other kids in your class? And do you remember sitting down at the table and deciding which classmate would get which valentine? I do! I've got some really fond memories.

Life can be tough. I think it's time to bring back the idea of expressing love through a valentine. Not just to our Valentine (sweetheart), but to a number of people. You have no idea how a simple gift of a valentine might brighten someone's day.

Tonight and for the next three Sundays after, I'm going to come to you with simple valentine ideas. Here's the first, a simple matchbook Ghirardelli chocolate square holder.

Measurements of Paper Products

  • Real Red cardstock (2-1/4" x 5-1/2")
  • Basic White cardstock (2" x 2")
  • Most Adored DSP (2" x 2", marbled Flirty Flamingo design)

Directions
  1. Score Real Red piece on the long side at 1/2", 3", and 3-1/4", then fold and burnish all in the same direction (mountain folds).
  2. Insert the Ghirardelli chocolate square so that one of the end flaps is at 1/2" score line. Close the cardstock around it and staple near the bottom (near the score line).
  3. Stamp hearts in Real Red ink in the corners of the Basic White square and adhere to the inside of the matchbook.
  4. Stamp "Happy Valentine's Day" in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on the DSP square, then add the trio of hearts in Real Red ink around it. Adhere to front of matchbook.
