On the FIFTH Sunday of Christmas...
On the fifth Sunday of Christmas, Sharon shared with me...how to create a gift bag from 12 x 12 DSP. These are easy to make, a great way to use up that hoard of DSP, and a great way to create a gift bag that coordinates with a gift set of cards!
Note: It's important to determine if your paper works with the "turn down" at the top. Take a peak to make sure the pattern that gets turned down is oriented correctly.
- Cut both pieces of DSP to 9" wide by 11" tall.
- Score each piece at 2" on all four sides. Fold down the top and burnish. With top still turned down, fold and burnish remaining sides with bone folder.
- On DSP Piece 1, cut up the bottom score lines 2" (to the horizontal line). Apply Tear & Tape along the score line and outside edge of the flaps you just created. Remove liner tape and form the bottom of the bag.
- On DSP Piece 2, cut up the bottom score lines as before, except remove the two flaps completely.
- Apply Tear & Tape as shown in diagram. Remove a little adhesive at a time, beginning with adhesive on the bottom of the bag. Nest bag halves together and adhere.
- Add Tear & Tape or Glue Dot to the loose flaps on the top.
- Punch or poke two small holes on both the front and back sides, about 1-1/4" from the edges and 3/4" from the top.
- Thread ribbon through the holes, tying ends in a small knot.
- Punch a polar bear tag, then punch or poke a hole in the top and attach to bag using Simply Elegant Trim (silver). Trim ends.
Here is how your first piece of DSP should look before you start adhering things:
