Sympathetic Leaves

While not officially fall yet, it's certainly feeling more and more like it. While preparing what to share during Friday Night Live, I realized that I needed a sympathy card for a funeral the next day, so I grabbed my Autumn Leaves set, a couple inks with coordinating paper and a roll of ribbon and came up with this beauty.

Cardstock/Ribbon Measurements

  • Crumb Cake card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored and folded in half at 4-1/4")
  • Crumb Cake cardstock (scrap for 2" circle punch)
  • Pecan Pie cardstock (3-3/4" x 5")
  • Very Vanilla cardstock (3-1/2" x 4-3/4", 4" x 5-1/4" for inside0
  • Pecan Pie Bordered Ribbon (6-7")
Directions
  1. Using second generation stamping (stamp off on scrap first, then stamp onto Very Vanilla layer without reinking), stamp maple, oak and dual leaves all over the smaller Very Vanilla layer.
  2. Punch 2" circle from Crumb Cake scrap, then stamp the maple leaf using the second generation stamping method with Crumb Cake ink.
  3. Add veins to all leaves using second generation stamping with Pecan Pie ink.
  4. Stamp sentiment on Crumb Cake circle using Pecan Pie ink.
  5. Adhere Very Vanilla layer to Pecan Pie layer, then to card front.
  6. Fold ribbon in half, splay ends a bit and add to card front using adhesive where the sentiment will ultimately go.
  7. Adhere the sentiment circle over ribbon using Dimensionals.
  8. Second generation-stamp the maple leaf image on the larger Very Vanilla layer, in the lower right corner.
  9. Second generation-stamp the maple leaf vein image onto Crumb Cake maple leaf using Pecan Pie ink. Adhere layer to inside of card.
  10. Repeat Step 9 on the envelope's front.
