Faux Layer from Painter's Tape - So Easy!
By now, I think you all know how much I love the Cheerful Daisies stamp set. Well, the whole Fresh as a Daisy Suite, actually, but for this project I only used the stamp set. Simple stamping...that's it. But I wanted to show you an easy technique that you can do while keeping it in the "simple" category...Faux Layering from Painter's Tape.
Cardstock Measurements:
- Melon Mambo card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored and folded in half at 4-1/4")
- Lemon Lime Twist cardstock (3-5/8" x 4-7/8")
- Basic White cardstock (3-1/2" x 4-3/4" for outside, 4" x 5-1/4" for inside)
Directions
- Take a piece of painter's tape that is at least 5-1/2" long and remove some of the tack by repeatedly touching it with your fingers, laying it across your arm, etc.
- Lay it across the center of the smaller Basic White layer. I like to work on a grid sheet so that there's no guessing where the center is or if my tape is straight.
- Stamp the more bold daisy image in Melon Mambo ink repeatedly on the card front with some of the image over the painter's tape. Repeat this process with the trio of flowers in Blueberry Bushel ink and the leaf stamp in Lemon Lime Twist ink.
- If desired, add centers to the daisies as I did using Lemon Lime ink.
- Carefully and gently remove the painter's tape. Lifting at an angle helps, but slow and steady is the main key.
- Stamp the sentiment in Tuxedo Black in the center of the clean strip left behind by the painter's tape.
- Adhere stamped layer to Lemon Lime Twist layer using basic adhesive, then add this layer to the card base using dimensionals.
- Add Melon Mambo dots (from Glossy Dots Assortment) to card front.
- Stamp as desired on the remaining piece of Basic White and adhere to the inside of the card.
- Don't forget to decorate the envelope!
Here's a link to the replay of my Friday Night Live. You'll want to fast-forward a bit as I was having technical difficulties at the start.
