Nuts about Fruit!

As I was creating projects for my Sweet Citrus Class, a thought and a song popped into my head and I just had to create a card with the inspiration. How cute is this?! It makes me want to book a tropical vacation, that's for sure!

Paper Supplies and Measurements

  • Tahitian Tide card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored and folded in half at 4-1/4")
  • Thick Basic White carstock (large scrap)
  • Basic White cardstock (two 4" x 5-1/4", scraps)
  • Watercolor paper (scraps)
Directions
  1. Use a Blending Brush to add Tahitian Tide ink in an ombre effect on one of the 4" x 5-1/4" Basic White layers, then emboss using the Sweet Citrus embossing folder.
  2. Stamp the outline of the fruit rind image in Pecan Pie onto Thick Basic White scrap. Die cut using the Sweet Citrus dies (you'll only need the two largest pieces).
  3. Add a little Smoky Slate ink with a Water Painter to the centers of the two largest pieces to create the illusion of a coconut's center.
  4. Stamp the outline of the fruit rind image in Granny Apple Green ink. You will only need the two smallest images.
  5. Stamp the fruit flesh in Parakeet Party ink to complete the lime wedge. Die cut the lime and the lime wedge.
  6. Stamp several sets of leaves using first and second (stamp off) generation stamping using Granny Apple Green and Parakeet Party inks. Die cut.
  7. Add Melon Mambo and Delightful Daffodil randomly to Watercolor Paper scraps with Water Painter, then die cut flowers from it once dry. You may use a heat tool to speed drying.
  8. Arrange and adhere elements as desired. I did not use dimensionals on any fruit or flowers, but you may decide to.
  9. Stamp sentiment in Pecan Pie ink on Basic White scrap, flag end and add to card using dimenionsals.
  10. Add Basic Pearls or Rhinestones to center of flowers.
  11. Stamp and decorate remaining 4" x 5-1/4" Basic White layer (for inside) as desired. I had leftover flowers that I added. Adhere to inside of card.
Watch the fun I have creating this card:
