Quick and Simple with a Few Tricks

Cards come in all different styles and levels of difficulty, but time invested in creating doesn't mean the card is any more appreciated by the recipient. Remember, it's the thought that counts. Having said that, I have a quick and simple card for you that does employ a couple of tricks. One is amping up a background by use of an embossing folder, and the other trick is how to stretch ribbon (or make it thinner).

Cardstock and Ribbon Measurements (full list of supplies at the bottom)

  • Night of Navy card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4")
  • Night of Navy cardstock (3" x 4-1/4")
  • Basic White cardstock (4" x 5-1/4", scrap for die cut on front)
  • By the Bay DSP (3-3/4" x 5", 2-3/4" x 4", 1" x 5-1/4" for inside)
  • Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon (12")
Directions
  1. Emboss larger DSP layer using embossing folder. Adhere to Night of Navy card base.
  2. Adhere 2-3/4" x 4" DSP layer to slightly larger Night of Navy layer, then adhere to card base using dimensionals.
  3. Cut ribbon down the middle lengthwise to create a thin 12" piece (you create two, but will use only one).
  4. Apply adhesive in the center of the card front and zig zag ribbon over it.
  5. Stamp sentiment in Night of Navy ink on Basic White scrap, die cut, and adhere to card using dimensionals.
  6. Adhere large Basic White layer to inside of card.
  7. Adhere remaining DSP strip about 1/4" from the bottom of the Basic White layer. It will stick out on both ends.
