Get Rid of the White!

Image
What happens when you stamp and color on white cardstock and then die cut it? You get a border of white. That's fine if the layer you are mounting it on is white, but what if it's not and you don't want the white to show? I have a little trick, thanks to fellow demonstrator Martin from the UK. Measurements of cardstock, etc. Soft Succulent base(5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored and folded in half at 4-1/4") Soft Succulent cardstock (4" x 5-1/4") Pale Papaya cardstock (3-3/4" x 5") Thick Basic White (scrap) Calypso Coral (3/4" x 2 -1/4") Linen Thread (about 9") Directions Stamp flowers on Thick Basic White scrap and color with Blends. Color around the image with Soft Succulent Blends (or, whatever color the base of your cardstock is). Die cut. Die cut the heart oval from the Soft Succulent layer, then emboss it using the crosshatch folder from the Basics 3D Embossing Folder collection. Stamp sentiment in Versamark ink onto Calypso Cora...

A Cracker...Card?

Image
As I was preparing for next week's Tune in Tuesday class, I decided to tease you with a project that uses the same main product as I'll be using the class...the Cracker & Treat Box dies. Cardstock Measurements Thick Basic White card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored and folded in half at 4-1/4") DSP (5" x 6", I used the retired Dandy Designs from SALE-a-bration) Fresh Freesia (large scrap) Basic White cardstock (scraps) Directions Die cut cracker & treat box from DSP. Mountain fold along the score lines that are parallel to the scalloped edges and nearest the center section, and then valley fold along the score lines in the center of the diamond area. Do this on both sides. Adhere to card so that the layer is folded on the score lines. Stamp full daisy and half daisy in Fresh Freesia ink on Basic White scraps.  Stamp their centers using Rich Razzleberry ink. Stamp largest leafy stem in Granny Apple Green on scrap Basic White. Stamp "Sending...

Quick and Simple with a Few Tricks

Image
Cards come in all different styles and levels of difficulty, but time invested in creating doesn't mean the card is any more appreciated by the recipient. Remember, it's the thought that counts. Having said that, I have a quick and simple card for you that does employ a couple of tricks. One is amping up a background by use of an embossing folder, and the other trick is how to stretch ribbon (or make it thinner).  Cardstock and Ribbon Measurements (full list of supplies at the bottom) Night of Navy card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4") Night of Navy cardstock (3" x 4-1/4") Basic White cardstock (4" x 5-1/4", scrap for die cut on front) By the Bay DSP (3-3/4" x 5", 2-3/4" x 4", 1" x 5-1/4" for inside) Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon (12") Directions Emboss larger DSP layer using embossing folder. Adhere to Night of Navy card base. Adhere 2-3/4" x 4" DSP layer to slightly lar...

I Can't Mask My Excitement

Image
I decided to break out my Artistic Mix Decorative Masks last night. I've had them for many months, but between the holidays and SALE-a-bration, I just didn't get to them.  At just $10, this set of masks is a fantastic value! Paper Measurements Orchid Oasis card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored in half and folded at 4-1/4") Basic White cardstock (3-3/4" x 5-1/2", scraps for flower and leaves, 4" x 5-14/" for inside) Basic Black layer (3-7/8" x 5-1/8") Parakeet Party (5/8" x 3-1/2") Directions Secure Basic White layer to surface and secure first mask on top.  Add Orchid Oasis ink with blending brush centrally in a strip running from near the bottom left corner to the top right corner. Brushed ink should be lighter near edges of strip and does not need to be "neat." Add second mask (can remove first or not, doesn't matter) over the first, lining it up so that the design fits inside the first design. Secure mask in ...
