Night Owl, Book Owl?

 Winter in Maine. Aside from the beauty of fresh snow, winter is great for stamping and reading! Yes, there are some fun outdoor activities also, but you can't deny the fun of staying in your pajamas all day, stamping and reading...and napping. Surely I'm not alone in thinking that! Assuming I'm not, here's a quick project that let's you enjoy two out of those three things: a cute magnetic bookmark.

Cardstock/Paper Measurements

  • Thick Basic White (2-1/2" x 8")
  • Basic White (scrap for owl)
  • Dandy Designs DSP (2-1/2" x 4")
Directions
  1. Score and fold the Thick Basic White piece in half at 4". Place the middle-sized rectangle die from the Scalloped Contours Dies so that one end of the die extends beyond the fold. Die cut.
  2. Die cut the DSP using the same rectangular die (do not fold the DSP).
  3. Cut the DSP in half (parallel to short side).
  4. Stamp owl in Memento Tuxedo Black and color with Blends. Fussy cut.
  5. Adhere a tiny magnet (I used 6mm x 1mm magnets from Amazon) to the front side of the bookmark, about 1/2" from the bottom using a Glue Dot. Adhere DSP over the top of the magnet using glue and aligning the bottom of the DSP with the bottom of the bookmark.
  6. Adhere owl to bookmark using glue.
  7. Stamp "my friend" in Granny Apple Green ink at the top of the bookmark.
  8. Open bookmark and stamp "Hoot Hoot, you're cute!" in Granny Apple Green on the inside of the bookmark.
  9. Close bookmark and let a second magnet snap onto the back (they automatically align with one another). Adhere the second half of DSP rectangle over that magnet using glue.

 It was rainy and cool all day today, but that's not going to dampen my beach vibes! I was inspired by a card done by a German demonstrator named Antje to create this sweet little card featuring the On the Horizon bundle from the Jan-June mini catalog. Who Wants Some Apple Cider?

 It's apple season in Maine. I have to be honest, I don't pick a lot of apples. Or drink a lot of apple cider. But I do love apple cider doughnuts, so that counts, right? Tonight, I featured the More than Autumn bundle, which was also featured in my Sept. 24th Tune in Tuesday class. I love this bundle and think you will also! Measurements Crumb Cake card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored and folded in half at 4-1/4") Splendid Autumn DSP (medium green background and deep red background, each 3" x 4-1/2", plus a scrap of the deep red background) Basic White cardstock (5/8" x 3", scraps) Directions Adhere green background layer to card base on an angle, then add the red background layer on top, at a different angle.  Die cut circle from Basic White cardstock.  It's still summery here in southern Maine, but the nights are getting cooler and it won't be long before the leaves begin changing. Until then, I have a card for you made with the Changing Leaves bundle, an Online Exclusive from Stampin' Up! It's currently on backorder, but should be in the week of September 9th.
