Luv Ya, my little pop-out slider card!
My online classes this week are focusing on Fun Folds and this card falls into that category. I received a pop-out slider card from my friend and teammate, Julie. She had showed me a different pop-out slider when I dropped by her house last week and I commented on how cool it was. She told me she had seen it on fellow demonstrator Sue Campfield's channel. So, of course I had to look it up when I got home. I knew I'd share it with you at some point. And THEN today I received a pop-out slider card from Julie...so I figured now was a good time to create a video to share it with all of you.
- Sweet Sorbet card base (4-1/4" x 11", scored and folded in half at 5-1/2")
- Sweet Sorbet cardstock pieces (1-1/2" x 9-3/4", 2" x 5-1/4", scrap)
- Basic White cardstock (3-7/8" x 5-1/8", 2-5/8" x 3-7/8", scrap)
- Basic Black cardstock (4" x 5-1/4", 2-3/4" x 4, 2" x 2")
- Country Floral Lane DSP (1-1/2" x 3-7/8" portrait, two 1" x 5-1/4" landscape)
Directions
- Score the long strip of Sweet Sorbet at 3/4", 5-1/4", 7", 7-1/2" and 9-1/4". Fold the score line at the 3/4" and burnish well. Fold in the other direction and burnish well. You want this piece to be quite flexible. Fold on the remaining score lines so that the cardstock folds in the opposite direction you made the original 3/4" fold go.
- Apply Tear & Tape to the 3/4" section (use two strips). Fold the strip back on itself at the "middle" score line and apply Tear & Tape to each 1/2" section (only need one strip each).
- Score the 2" x 5-1/4" piece of Sweet Sorbet at 1/2" and 4-3/4". Fold and burnish both ends in the same direction. Apply Tear & Tape to both 1/2" sections.
- (It will be easiest if you refer to the video from this point until the mechanism is complete). Beginning with the long strip, remove the Tear & Tape backing from the 1/2" and adhere it to the left center of the 2" x 5-1/4" piece so that the fold at the 1/2" section aligns with the edge of the other piece.
- Wrap the long strip underneath the wider piece and lay flat on the inside of the card base so that the 3/4" end with two strips of Tear & Tape butts up against the center fold. Do not adhere yet, but hold the mechanism in place flat, making sure that the score lines at each end of the wider piece lines up with the top and bottom edges of the card base (and the 3/4" end of the long strip is still against the center fold of the card).
- Hold the mechanism piece down flat to the card, remove the backing at the top of the wide strip, fold that tab in and secure to the inside of the card base. Repeat on the bottom end.
- Remove the Tear & Tape from the 3/4" end and adhere to card base simply by closing the card. Press down to secure. When you open the card, you should have a working pop-out slider.
- Decorate the front of the card as desired. I stamped several of the Conversation Bubbles images in Sweet Sorbet ink on a 4" x 5-1/4" Basic White layer, then adhered the 1-1/2" x 3-7/8" DSP strip to the left edge. I layered this onto the Basic Black layer and then onto the card front.
- Stamp the open bubble in Sweet Sorbet ink, then stamp "luv ya" in the center, also with Sweet Sorbet. Die cut using the coordinating die. Layer onto the card front using dimensionals.
- Add Matte Black Dots as desired.
- For the inside of the card, layer the 2-5/8" x 3-7/8" Basic White layer onto the 2-3/4" x 4" Basic Black layer and adhere to the left side of the card. DO NOT cover the mechanism at all. The layers are designed to abut the edge of the mechanism only.
- Die cut several hearts from Sweet Sorbet scrap and add one to the lower right corner of the Basic White layer.
- Adhere the die cut bubble that resulted when you die cut the "luv ya" bubble for the front to the 2" x 2" Basic Black layer, add two red hearts, then adhere to remaining Tear & Tape strip on the mechanism.
- For a more finished look, adhere the DSP strips to the top and bottom sections of the inside right section. DO NOT adhere to the mechanism itself, just adhere about 1" in from each end of the DSP strips.
Watch me create it. Trust me, you're going to want to. Those directions were hard to write.
