12 Sundays of Christmas - #12 (Gift Bag)

On the 12th Sunday of Christmas, Sharon shared with me...a gift bag! Yes, we've arrived at the last Sunday of the Twelve Sundays of Christmas series. I hope you've found some ideas to use this Christmas season and beyond. Remember, change up the stamps and you can make these items for any occasion!

Paper/Ribbon Measurements

  • (2) sheets of 12" x 12" DSP (must be same pattern)
  • Basic White cardstock (scrap)
  • scrap of coordinating DSP
  • Real Red ribbon (two 15" lengths)
Directions
  1. Begin with DSP in the orientation you'd like it (for instance, if it is a directional pattern, you should have the top of the pattern at the top).
  2. Rotate the DSP left a quarter turn and score at 2".
  3. Score at 3" on the remaining three sides.
  4. Repeat Steps 1-3 with the second sheet of DSP.
  5. Burnish all score lines.
  6. With the top of ONE of the DSPs at the top of your work surface,  remove both corners along the bottom by cutting along the score lines.
  7. Working with the second sheet, ONLY cut along the score line on the left edge (until it meets the first score line it comes to) and the score line on the right edge. You should not be removing the corners on this one. Glue the bottoms together.
  8. Fold the top edge of each back.
  9. Flip your project over, flaps (square corners that were not cut off) up and adhere sides together to form bag (make sure your top edge had been folded down
  10. Stack the two sheets of DSP so that the bottoms are on top of each other and the top of one sheet of DSP faces left and the other faces right.
  11. Apply glue to the "free" edges of the top rim to make them sit better.
  12. Punch holes where you want the ribbon handles to go.
  13. Knot one end of one length of ribbon, feed it through one hole on Side 1, then back through the other hole on Side 1 and knot the remaining end.
  14. Repeat Step 13 for the other side of the bag.
  15. Punch the Basic White scrap using the Label Me Lovely punch.
  16. Cut out elements from coordinating DSP (or stamp) and add to tag.
  17. Punch a hole in the tag and free through Linen Thread. Adhere to bag.
