12 Sundays of Christmas - Week 07

On the 7th Sunday of Christmas, Sharon shared with me... a tall, skinny bag filled with yummy chocolate.

This bag is a variation of one I did last year during my 12 Sundays of Christmas series. The top closure is a little different, much simpler.

Measurements of consumables (full list of supplies at the bottom of this post)
  • Sweetest Christmas DSP (6"x 6")
  • Basic Black scrap
  • Basic White scrap
  • Real Red ribbon (6")

Diagram (Represents Steps 1-6 below without the mitering)

Directions
  1. If your DSP pattern is directional, place it on your Simply Scored board with what will be the top of the bag at the top of your board (the pattern should look right side up).
  2. Using the larger tip of the stylus, score at 1-1/2", 2-3/4", 4-1/4" and 5-1/2".
  3. Rotate a quarter turn to the right and score at 1-1/4".
  4. Remove the small rectangle from the lower right corner.
  5. Miter the edges of the 1/2" tab.
  6. Cut up from the bottom of the DSP along the vertical score line, cutting up just until you hit the horizontal score line. Make sure you are cutting off the score lines. Miter the side flaps (these are the squares that are two sections in from each edge.
  7. Apply Tear & Tape to the 1/2" tab on the side of the DSP that you want showing.
  8. Apply adhesive (Tear & Tape or Liquid Glue) to the two bottom side flaps (the squares) and the back flap (side opposite the small rectangle you cut off).
  9. Remove Tear& Tape backing from the side tab and fold the opposite edge onto the side tab.
  10. For the bottom of the box, fold each bottom side flap in, then the back flap, and finally the front flap, squaring the bag bottom up as best you can (easier done with glue).
  11. Near the top of the bag, push the sides in gently with index fingers while pinching the front and back together. Punch a hole in the top of the bag.
  12. Add treats (it fits 3 Lindor Truffles nicely).
  13. Fold ribbon in half and push the folded end of the ribbon through the hole from front to back. Pull ends through the loop on the other side.
  14. Punch penguin body from Basic Black scrap and penguin bib/face from Basic White scrap.
  15. Stamp eyes on Basic White shape using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, the beak using Crushed Curry ink and the bow tie with Real Red ink.
  16. Adhere Basic White penguin layer to the Basic Black penguin layer, then attach to the front of the bag with Dimiensionals.
