12 Sundays of Christmas - Week 06

On the 6th Sunday of Christmas, my demo shared with me... an ornament treat holder. Can't you just imagine seeing these all over the tree when your kids or grandkids gather around?

Consumable Supplies/Measurements (full list of supplies can be found at the bottom of this post)
  • Real Red cardstock (8" x 5-1/4", scrap)
  • Painted Christmas DSP (eight 1-5/8" squares
  • Snowy White Velvet Sheets (scrap) - optional
  • Vanilla and Gold Satin Edged Ribbon (15-16")
Directions (refer to the diagram below for Steps 1-4)
  1. Beginning with the long edge against your base ruler, score at 1/2", 2-1/4", 4", 5-3/4", and 7-1/2".
  2. Turn and score at 1-3/4" and 3-1/2".
  3. Remove the four small rectangles that are in the corners of the cardstock.
  4. Adhere the DSP squares to all but the four corner squares of the cardstock (refer to diagram).
  5. Cut the remaining score lines that are on the long edges just up to the first score line they meet. Do this on both long edges.
  6. Burnish the score lines.
  7. Apply a thin layer of glue to the un-DSPed squares and adhere them to the DSPed square adjacent (on the long edge) to them.
  8. Fold back along the middle score line, and cut from the middle score line to the opposite side of the square you are working on. You'll do this for all four squares. It's important to get a clean, straight line, so you may want to use a ruler and pencil to give yourself the right path to cut.
  9. For the two small flaps that will come together, punch two holes for the ribbon to pass through. You may also cut the corners of each a bit to give it a softer look. Note that if you want your corners rounded, you have to do that BEFORE you start forming the box.
  10. Thread ribbon through and create a loop on the back side, then tie a bow on the front side. Trim ends.
  11. Punch or die cut a 1" circle (or 1" square) from Real Red scrap and adhere to the center of the box with a dimensional.
  12. Handwrite recipient's name. Alternatively, you can die cut an initial from Snowy White Velvet using the Playful Alphabet dies and adhere to the Real Red circle.
