Nuts about Nuts and Candy Corn!

I've heard for a couple of years now that candy corn with peanuts is yummy. As I was thinking of a nice treat to offer during a special meeting I have beginning tonight, I looked at the nearly empty bag of candy corn on my desk and the Nuts About Squirrels set that I wanted to use one last time before turning totally to Christmas projects, and I decided to give it a try. YUM-O!

Note: I used retired Cello Bags. They measure 4" x 6". Stampin' Up! now carries them in 6" x 8". More space to fill with yumminess!

Consumable Measurements (full list of supplies at the bottom of this post)
  • Cajun Craze (4-1/2"x 5", scored in half at 2-1/2")
  • Basic White scrap
  • Crumb Cake (1" x 1-1/2")
  • Rustic Harvest DSP (2-1/4" x 4")
  • Linen Thread (about 14")
Directions
  1. Stamp squirrel outline in Early Espresso ink on Basic White scrap.
  2. Stamp coordinating squirrel fill in Crumb Cake, acorn cap in Early Espresso and acorn bottom in Cajun Craze.
  3. Cut out squirrel.
  4. Stamp "Nuts about you" in Early Espresso on the bottom half of the Crumb Cake strip.
  5. Wrap Linen Thread around top portion of sentiment layer and tie in a bow. Trim ends.
  6. Using a blending brush, blend Crushed Curry ink over entire B&W leaf background paper (Rustic Harvest DSP). Add spots of Cajun Craze using Blending Brush.
  7. Fold Cajun Craze piece in half and adhere DSP with glue (note: you can add this after you've put your treat in the bag and stapled it to the inside back of the Cajun Craze piece...or you can do it before).
  8. Add sentiment strip to the upper left using dimensionals, and the squirrel in the lower right using dimensionals.
  9. If you didn't do it before, fill cello bag with treat, fold over the top and staple to the inside of the folded Cajun Craze layer, then add decorative elements in Steps 7&8.
  10. If you need to close the top flap because you adhered the DSP in Step 7, adhere the front of the Cajun Craze piece to the bag using dimensionals or glue dots.

Here's the video for those who prefer to watch projects being created:
