12 Sundays of Christmas - Week 2

On the 12th Sunday of Christmas, my demo shared with me...an open top box.

Measurements (full list of supplies at the bottom of this post)

  • Evening Evergreen (5" x 8-1/2")
  • Shimmery White or Basic White scraps
Template (shows where to score and cut)

Directions
  1. On the long side of your cardstock, score at 3", 4", 7" and 8".
  2. Rotate 90 degrees and score at 1".
  3. Find the smallest rectangle and trim it off. This should be in a corner and adjacent to the 1/2" score line, which is the tab that helps form the box.
  4. Miter the remaining two ends of the 1/2" tab.
  5. Along the bottom (where the 1" score line is), cut on each of the remainining three score lines, just until you meet the 1" score line. Miter the edges of the 1" flaps.
  6. Burnish all score lines so your box has crisp edges.
  7. Apply adhesive of choice (I used Tombow Multi-purpose Glue, but Tear n Tape is also a good option) to the 1/2" tab and fold opposite end over to join. Let set for 30 seconds or so.
  8. Find the long rectangle flap that is opposite the edges you just joined. This will be the flap at the bottom of the front of the box, so it should be the last flap folded in.
  9. Fold the small flaps in, add adhesive, then fold back flap over. Apply more adhesive and fold the front flap over, squaring up the sides so your box is square. You may want to use a bone folder to press the flaps together from the inside when the box is standing.
  10. Stamp the leafy wreath in Soft Succulent on the Shimmery White scrap.
  11. Stamp the twig wreath in Soft Suede over the previously stamped image.
  12. Die cut the wreath.
  13. Stamp the ribbon in Real Red onto scrap and die cut.
  14. Stamp "Merry Christmas" in Real Red onto scrap and handcut.
  15. Adhere wreath to box front using dimensionals.
  16. Add bow and sentiment with glue dots (or Multi-purpose Glue).
  17. Stuff with paper shreds or tissue paper and add gift.
