Spidery Wreath Halloween Card
I'm not a big fan of spiders, but I'm a HUGE fan of the Cottage Wreaths bundle. I've already made many Christmas cards and fall cards with it and, for this video, I am creating a Halloween card. The measurements below are for the end result. I began with a larger piece of Very Vanilla but made a boo boo (no pun intended) and had to cut it down. I like the end product better!
Measurements
- Pumpkin Pie card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored and folded at 4-1/4")
- Basic Black cardstock (3-1/8" x 4-1/2")
- Very Vanilla cardstock (3" x 4-3/8", 3-3/4" x 5", scrap)
Directions
- Begin by stamping the leafy wreath in Pumpkin Pie ink onto the 3-1/8" x 4-1/2" Very Vanilla layer.
- Stamp the twiggy wreath over the top using Tuxedo Black ink.
- On the scrap piece of Very Vanilla, stamp the spider using Tuxedo Black ink.
- Die cut the spider and, at the same time, die cut the detailed bow from the center of the Basic Black layer.
- Stamp "Boo!" several times in a wavy pattern near the bottom of the card, alternating colors. Hint: Start with the center Boo! in Tuxedo Black, then stamp an orange Boo! on both sides, then a final black one on each side.
- Round the edges of the bow with your fingers and adhere to the wreath using mini dimensionals. I used regular ones in my video, but the black mini dimensionals are a better choice.
- Adhere the spider die cut to the area inside the wreath using liquid glue.
- With a Smoky Slate Stampin' Write marker, draw a strand of spider silk to make it look like the spider has dropped from the bow area.
- Using Pumpkin Pie ink, stamp a spider randomly over the card front, concentrating on only the area that will show.
- Adhere the stamped Very Vanilla layer to the Basic Black layer and then to the card base using dimensionals.
- On the 3-3/4" x 5" Very Vanilla layer, stamp spiders in Tuxedo Black going down the righthand edge. Adhere to the inside of the card. (Repeat on the envelope if desired)
- Add Black Matte Dots to the wreath on the front of the card.
