It's Too Hot to be Hip(po)
Wow, it's been hot here in Maine this week! I'm thankful for air conditioning, that's for sure! But there are other ways to cool off and this hippo from Hippest Hippos has found one that works for him!
- Thick Basic White card base (4-1/4" x 11", scored in half at 5-1/2")
- Basic White cardstock (3" x 4-1/4", 2-3/4" x 4", scrap)
- Tahitian Tide DSP (4" x 5-1/4", 2-1/4" x 4")
- Silver Foil scrap
- Sweet Sorbet scrap
- Tahitian Tide scrap
- Parakeet Party scrap
Directions
- Cut the 4-1/4" x 11" card base at 8". Fold along score line (5-1/2" mark).
- Adhere the larger piece of Tahitian Tide DSP on the inside of the card base.
- Adhere the smaller piece of Tahitial Tide DSP on the short side of the card base.
- Stamp the waving hippo on Basic White scrap using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
- Color hippo using Stampin' Blends of your choice (Smoky Slate or Gray Granite are good choices for the body).
- Die cut hippo, and at the same time, tub from Silver Foil, grass tufts (2) from Parakeet Party, splashes (2) from Tahitian Tide, and goggles and snorkel from Sweet Sorbet. (You may want to use adhesive sheets on the splashes, goggles and snorkel.)
- Using Blending Brushes, add Parakeet Party ink to the lower third of the 3" x 4-1/4" Basic White layer and Tahitian Tide ink to the upper two-thirds.
- Adhere hippo to the center of the blended layer, then adhere tub using dimensionals.
- Adhere grass, splashes, goggles and snorkel to card.
- Stamp sentiment in the upper left corner, or wherever desired.
- Adhere focal layer to the front flap of the card base, making sure you only add adhesive to the portion that will be attached to the flap.
- Stamp another sentiment on the 2-3/4" x 4" Basic White layer using Tahitian Tide ink. Adhere to the inside of the card, making sure it's centered so it doesn't show when card front is closed.
- Decorate envelope with stamps or DSP to coordinate.
Watch as I create this card during my weekly Friday Night Live.
