Let's Hit the Beach!

There's nothing like walking along the water's edge, dipping your toes in the water, collecting seashells, etc. If you don't live near the beach or, like me, you live in a beach community and avoid it during tourist season, you can always recreate the feeling with stamps, ink and paper. Even better, you can share your love of the beach with a friend!


Measurements (full list of supplies at the bottom of this post)
  • Sahara Sand card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored in half at 4-1/4")
  • Shimmer White layer (4-1/4" x 5-1/2")
  • Very Vanilla cardstock (4" x 5-1/4", scrap)
Directions
  1. Add 3-4 drops of Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point reinkers to waxed paper (or better yet, acetate), then spritz with water.
  2. "Smoosh" (touch...how hard or soft depends on the look you are going for) the Shimmery White layer onto the waxed paper/acetate surface, picking up the ink/water. Continue doing so until you get the desired results. Dab with a paper towel to stop the water/ink from spreading or pooling around the edges. Set aside to dry. You can speed up drying with a heat tool, but best results come from letting it dry naturally.
  3. Beginning on one of the short ends of the beautiful creation you've made, tear up on the piece you won't be using for the project. This will expose the white core on the piece you are keeping. Tear at an angle as in the image above.
  4. Stamp the "sand" image from Friends are like Seashells in Sahara Sand ink along the portion of the Sahara Sand card base that will show once the water is adhered (do so before adhering).
  5. Adhere the water layer to the card base.
  6. Stamp the sentiment in Pacific Point in the lower right corner.
  7. On the piece of Very Vanilla scrap, stamp the small seashell from the set in Sahara Sand ink and color with the Petal Pink and Balmy Blue Blends. Do this at least as many times as you want shells for your card.
  8. Fussy cut your seashells and curve the edges with a bone folder or your fingers. Apply to card using a small portion of a dimensional.
  9. Add Wink of Stella to the seashells.
  10. On the Very Vanilla layer, stamp the small seashell down the left edge of the card, alternating it's orientation on the page. Adhere to the inside of the card base.
  11. Stamp on a Very Vanilla envelope for a coordinated look

Who Wants Some Apple Cider?

 It's apple season in Maine. I have to be honest, I don't pick a lot of apples. Or drink a lot of apple cider. But I do love apple cider doughnuts, so that counts, right? Tonight, I featured the More than Autumn bundle, which was also featured in my Sept. 24th Tune in Tuesday class. I love this bundle and think you will also! Measurements Crumb Cake card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored and folded in half at 4-1/4") Splendid Autumn DSP (medium green background and deep red background, each 3" x 4-1/2", plus a scrap of the deep red background) Basic White cardstock (5/8" x 3", scraps) Directions Adhere green background layer to card base on an angle, then add the red background layer on top, at a different angle.  Die cut circle from Basic White cardstock. Changing Leaves...not quite yet!

 It's still summery here in southern Maine, but the nights are getting cooler and it won't be long before the leaves begin changing. Until then, I have a card for you made with the Changing Leaves bundle, an Online Exclusive from Stampin' Up! It's currently on backorder, but should be in the week of September 9th.
