It's a Wonderful Watercolored World
Today's post is a twofer! You'll get two cards out of one technique. I recently attended a webinar hosted by Stampin' Up! for demonstrators where a myriad of watercolor techniques were shown and taught. This one I had never seen in my 25 years of stamping. I don't even know what to call it!
Measurements
- (2) Thick Basic White bases (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored in half at 4-1/4")
- Watercolor Wonder DSP (4-1/2" x 5-1/2")
- Watercolor paper layer (3-1/2" x 4-3/4")
- Orchid Opulence layers (3-3/4" x 5", scrap)
- Basic Black layer (3-5/8" x 4-7/8", 1" x 3-5/8")
- Basic White layers (3-1/2" x 4-3/4, 7/8" x 3-1/2", scrap)
Directions
- Blend Starry Sky, Orchid Opulence and Gorgeous Grape inks randomly onto Watercolor Paper with Blending Brushes.
- Spritz water directly onto iris stamp, then press onto inked watercolor paper. Hold for a few seconds to allow the water to penetrate the ink, then lift up and stamp onto the 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" Basic White layer in about the same position as you had on the Watercolor paper. The ink will transfer. Clean stamp and repeat until you get desired result. Allow to dry (shouldn't take long). Note: if you see pooling, you can dab the excess water with a paper towel.
- Layer the inked watercolor paper onto the Basic Black layer and then onto one of the card bases.
- Stamp "Thinking of you..." sentiment in Orchid Opulence ink onto the left side of the small white layer. Adhere to thin Basic Black layer, then to card front.
- Stamp iris in Orchid Opulence ink onto Basic White scrap and fussy cut. Add to card with dimensionals.
- For second card, adhere DSP layer to the front of the second card base.
- Add Orchid Opulence layer to DSP on an angle, ensuring that the corners don't extend beyond card base.
- Adhere the iris-stamped Basic White layer to card front so that it's got a uniform border with the DSP.
- Stamp sentiment on Basic White scrap and punch using the smaller oval on the punch.
- Punch a scalloped oval layer from Orchid Opulence.
- Adhere the sentiment oval to the scalloped oval, then adhere to card base.
- Add three Glossy Dots to the card front.
- For both cards, stamp an iris in Orchid Opulence on the inside and on the envelopes.
- Stamp any desired sentiment inside in Orchid Opulence.
