The Moon is BEARly up!

June is a busy month and Father's Day weekend is always near my husband's birthday. While I could just give him one card that covers both occasions, that seems unfair to me...sort of like how Christmas babies always feel like they get slighted. So, I designed this card for my husband's birthday. Same bear as last week's card, but very different look.

Measurements (complete list of supplies can be found at the bottom of this post)
  • Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", folded in half at 4-1/4")
  • Basic Black layer (5-1/8" x 3-7/8")
  • Very Vanilla layer (5" x 3-3/4")

Directions
  1. Stamp bear in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto lower right side of Very Vanilla layer.
  2. Stamp shadow as desired, also in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
  3. Punch or die cut a circle (about 1-3/4" in diamter) out of sticky note or Masking Paper (sorry, didn't have mine yet when I filmed this tutorial), and place over bear's head.
  4. Using a blending brush, add Night of Navy to the Very Vanilla layer. You can create a very dark night, or one with lots of moonlight, and maybe even fog, depending on how you blend.
  5. Remove mask.
  6. Stamp birthday greeting as desired. (I would probably have made the moon a little higher in my sample and stamped the greeting so "birthday" was in the moon.
  7. Adhere to Basic Black layer, then to Very Vanilla Thick card base.
  8. Stamp bear inside as desired, and also on envelope.
Here's the video, for those of you who prefer to watch the process:
