Mountains and Hearts!
Sometimes it pays to think outside the box. I was inspired by a fellow demonstrator, Su Mohr, to create a Valentine using the Horizon Dies (and a heart from the Sweet Hearts Dies). The minimalist nature of this card, combined with the Blackberry Bliss color scheme makes it a favorite of mine.
Measurements (full list of supplies at the bottom of this post)
- Thick Basic White card base (5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored in half at 4 1/4")
- Blackberry Bliss layer (4" x 5 1/4" and a scrap about 1" x 3")
- Basic White scrap (at least 1 1/4" x 5")
- New Horizons DSP (blue scrap about 2" x 6", blackberry scrap about 1 1/2" x 5", razzleberry scrap about 1 1/2" square)
Directions
- Die cut the heart, water, and detail mountain layers from DSP, the solid mountain layer from Basic White and the banner/four hearts layers from the Blackberry Bliss scrap. You should be able to do this all in one pass of the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine. You may want to use Post-It notes or washi tape to hold down the banner and four hearts dies together so they don't shift.
- Determine approximate placement of lake and mountains on the Blackberry Bliss layer and where you'll want to stamp the sentiment. Stamp the sentiment in Versamark and emboss with white powder.
- Adhere Blackberry Bliss layer to Basic White card base and the Blackberry Bliss detail mountain die cut to the Basic White mountain die cut.
- Add mini dimensionals to the back of the lake and mountains and adhere to card.
- Adhere heart behind the mountain range. If the dimensionals on the mountains are in the way, just trim the bottom of the heart a bit.
- Add jewels as desired.
- Adhere the banner to the inside of the card and the hearts to the envelope.
