Mountains and Hearts!

Sometimes it pays to think outside the box. I was inspired by a fellow demonstrator, Su Mohr, to create a Valentine using the Horizon Dies (and a heart from the Sweet Hearts Dies). The minimalist nature of this card, combined with the Blackberry Bliss color scheme makes it a favorite of mine.

Measurements (full list of supplies at the bottom of this post)

  • Thick Basic White card base (5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored in half at 4 1/4")
  • Blackberry Bliss layer (4" x 5 1/4" and a scrap about 1" x 3")
  • Basic White scrap (at least 1 1/4" x 5")
  • New Horizons DSP (blue scrap about 2" x 6", blackberry scrap about 1 1/2" x 5", razzleberry scrap about 1 1/2" square)

Directions
  1. Die cut the heart, water, and detail mountain layers from DSP, the solid mountain layer from Basic White and the banner/four hearts layers from the Blackberry Bliss scrap. You should be able to do this all in one pass of the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine. You may want to use Post-It notes or washi tape to hold down the banner and four hearts dies together so they don't shift.
  2. Determine approximate placement of lake and mountains on the Blackberry Bliss layer and where you'll want to stamp the sentiment. Stamp the sentiment in Versamark and emboss with white powder.
  3. Adhere Blackberry Bliss layer to Basic White card base and the Blackberry Bliss detail mountain die cut to the Basic White mountain die cut.
  4. Add mini dimensionals to the back of the lake and mountains and adhere to card.
  5. Adhere heart behind the mountain range. If the dimensionals on the mountains are in the way, just trim the bottom of the heart a bit.
  6. Add jewels as desired.
  7. Adhere the banner to the inside of the card and the hearts to the envelope.
