Mountains and Hearts!

Image
Sometimes it pays to think outside the box. I was inspired by a fellow demonstrator, Su Mohr, to create a Valentine using the Horizon Dies (and a heart from the Sweet Hearts Dies). The minimalist nature of this card, combined with the Blackberry Bliss color scheme makes it a favorite of mine. Measurements (full list of supplies at the bottom of this post) Thick Basic White card base (5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored in half at 4 1/4") Blackberry Bliss layer (4" x 5 1/4" and a scrap about 1" x 3") Basic White scrap (at least 1 1/4" x 5") New Horizons DSP (blue scrap about 2" x 6", blackberry scrap about 1 1/2" x 5", razzleberry scrap about 1 1/2" square) Directions Die cut the heart, water, and detail mountain layers from DSP, the solid mountain layer from Basic White and the banner/four hearts layers from the Blackberry Bliss scrap. You should be able to do this all in one pass of the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine. Yo...

Sweet Treat Box

Image
While I love creating cards for others, I also love giving little treats, and Stampin' Up!'s Sweet Little Boxes are just perfect for doing that. This little box can hold yummy candy, or it can hold a gift card! Measurements Basic Black cardstock (7" x 2-3/8",  scored in half at 3-1/2", and a medium scrap) Basic White cardstock (3-1/4" x 2-1/8" and a medium scrap) Real Red cardstock (medium scrap) Red Faux Linen Ribbon (about 18") Directions Mount the X and O stamps on one block and stamp on a diagonal all over the Sweet Little Box (adhesive side up). Do the same on the 3-1/4" x 2-1/8" Basic White piece. Allow the box to dry fully. You can use a heat tool to speed up the process. Stamp the Luv U stamp in Memento Black, then stamp the fill heart in Real Red. Die cut the heart you just stamped, the tag from Basic Black cardstock, and a large heart and small hearts from Real Red. You can do these all with one pass of the Stampin' Cut ...

Graffitied Thanks

Image
Sometimes you stumble across a project that is just too good NOT to share! This is one of them. It's so unique and the colors just pop. This card was inspired by Stampin' Up! employee (and fellow demo) Shannon West. Measurements Basic White Note card and envelope Basic White layer (3-1/2" x 5") Basic White scrap (large enough for "thanks") Basic Black scrap (large enough for "thanks") Directions Emboss the Basic White layer using the Brick & Mortar 3D embossing folder. Add enough isopropyl alcohol (90% of greater for best results) to a Stampin' Spritzer. For this, filling to the bottom of the SU logo will be enough. Add 8-10 drops of Bermuda Bay reinker. Shake to mix. Holding your embossed white layer at a slight angle and protecting the area around it from splatter, spritz several times so that it begins to drip. Lay flat and let dry. You can speed drying with a heat tool. Die cut the detailed "thanks" from Basic White and the ou...

Sweet Talk Corner Bookmark

Image
Do you love to read or do you know someone who does? Or maybe you want to have your kids or grandkids give their classmates a special Valentine to their classmates (you could tuck a piece of candy in it, too!). This corner bookmark is sweet and easy to make. Here's the template we'll be using to tell us where to score and cut: Measurements Heather Highland cardstock (3-1/2" x 6") Sweet Talk DSP (2-3/4" x 2-3/4") Basic White scrap (small) Directions With the short side of the Heather Highland piece against the bottom (or top) of your cutter, score at 1/2". Rotate cardstock and score at the 3" mark. Cut away the 1/2" x 3" rectangle shown in the diagram above, then mitre the remaining 1/2" rectangle, as shown. Cut from the bottom corner connected to the tab to the place where the middle score line and opposite edge of cardstock meet. You can do this with your paper trimmer (best results) or by hand. Fold on score lines and use bone fol...
