Christmas Ornaments from Scraps

Raise your hand if you have scraps of DSP...

Okay, now that everyone has their hand raised, I have a quick and easy project for you thanks to Stampin' Up's CEO, Sara Douglass. I literally watched her create one then hopped into my craft room for Friday Night Live, where I created two without any trouble.

Photo coming soon...play the video below to see what it looks like in the meantime.

Measurements (complete list of supplies at the bottom of this post)

  • DSP
    • (2) 1/2" x 3-1/2"
    • (2) 1/2" x 3"
    • (2) 1/2" x 2-1/2"
    • (2) 1/2" x 2-1/4"
  • Silver Specialty Paper or Coordinating Cardstock (two 1/4" x 1-1/2" strips)
  • Medium or large paper clip or 6-8" of silver trim

Directions
  1. Glue like sides of the 2-1/4" strips together so that the pattern you want featured is showing.
  2. Using a bone folder (or stylus or your fingers), curl the remaining strips, then bend both ends of the strips back (opposite direction of the curl)about 1/3" to create tabs.
  3. Glue the tab of one of the 3" pieces to one of the 3-1/2" pieces, then glue the tab of one of the 2-1/2" pieces so that the strips nest into each other. Repeat with the other end of the strips.
  4. Repeat Step 3 with the three remaining pieces.
  5. Join the pieces created in Steps 3 and 4 to the piece created in Step 1.
  6. Wrap and glue the silver/coordinating cardstock strips around the ends of the ornament to create a more finished look.
  7. Attach a wire hook (either traditional ornament hanger or one formed from a portion of a paper clip) or silver trim loop to the ornament to hang.
