9th Sunday of Christmas

On the 9th Sunday of Christmas, my demo shared with me...a lidded milk carton.

I've created this in two sizes, but the video only shows creating the larger of the two milk cartons. The measurements for the smaller version will be shown in red.

Measurements (a complete list of supplies as well as the video tutorial can be found at the bottom of this post)

  • Real Red cardstock (slightly under 7" x 7") [slightly under 5-1/2" x 5-1/2"]
  • Painted Christmas DSP (8-1/2" x 4", landscape if directional paper) [6-1/2" x "3]
  • Basic White cardstock (scrap)
  • Ribbon (about 12")

Directions
  1. Using the Simply Scored Tool (or paper trimmer), score on each of the four sides of the Real Red cardstock at 2-1/2" [2"].
  2. Burnish on all score lines, then cut down the right edge of one of the middle rectangles, just until you hit the score line. Cut a wedge in the adjacent corner square to meet the first cut, then cut a wedge from the opposite side of the square. Cut off half of the wedged piece.
  3. Rotate paper and repeat Step 2 until all corners have been trimmed.
  4. Apply Tear & Tape to the edge of the wedged pieces that are nearest the rectangles. Remove backing and form box.
  5. Using the DSP, score on the long edge at 2", 4", 6" and 8" [1-1/2", 3", 4-1/2", and 6"].
  6. Rotate DSP and score on the short edge at 2" [1-1/2"]. Flip the DSP over vertically and score at 3-1/2" [2-1/2"]. Burnish all score lines.
  7. Apply Tear & Tape to the 1/2" tab on the short side (with right side up), and adhere to opposite side. An easy way to do this is to flip the DSP so the right side is down, fold up the 1/2" tab, then fold the other end at the middle score line so that it comes back to meet the 1/2" edge.
  8. Pinch two opposite side middles together to form the milk carton lid. You may want to fit the top over the bottom of the box just for some stability when doing this. You also may need to "help" the square part of the milk carton top (where the other score line was) so that they form a nice top to the rectangular piece...you want it to look like a milk carton top).
  9. Punch two small holes in the top of the milk carton (use your Take your Pick tool's piercer if you don't have a small punch) and thread ribbon through. Tie ribbon in a bow.
  10. Stamp a greeting on the Basic White scrap and either use a small circle punch or a die to cut out. Adhere to milk carton with dimensionals.
  11. Add treats to the bottom of the carton (the large carton holds about 18 Hershey Kisses, the small about 8 Kisses) and then add the top.
