7th Sunday of Christmas
On the 7th Sunday of Christmas, my demo shared with me... a bag box! At least that's what I'm calling it. This bag box will hold a pack of notecards and envelopes (not full-size cards, just our notecards), a cello bag filled with cookies or other treats, some bath and body products,... lots of stuff. It measures 4"W x 1-3/4"D x 3-3/4"H and is made from one sheet of DSP.
Measurements (an instructional video plus a full list of supplies can be found at the bottom of this post).
- Painted Christmas DSP (6" x 12")
- Evening Evergreen CS (1-3/4" x 4" and a large scrap)
- Evening Evergreen Open Weave Ribbon (about 12")
Directions
Note: If your paper is directional, you'll want to make sure that the design shows correctly when the DSP is turned on its long side.
- On the long side, score at 4", 5-3/4", 9-3/4" and 11-1/2".
- Rotate and score on the short side 1".
- Rotate the paper 180 degrees and score at 1-1/4" (or, you can combine steps 3 and 4 by scoring at 1" and 4-3/4")
- Burnish on all the score lines.
- Remove both small rectangles.
- Mitre the 1/2" tab.
- Along the bottom edge (that's the long one that has the 1-1/4" wide score), cut on each vertical score line, making sure to mitre the two smaller flaps.
- Fold along the 1" score line to create the top of the bag. Re-burnish on your score lines, paying attention to the parts where the DSP is folded on itself.
- With the right side of the box face down (the print you want on the bottom part of the bag), fold the 1/2" tab toward you and qpply Sticky Strip or other adhesive.
- Fold over on the middle score line so that the opposite edge meets the edge where the 1/2" tab is.
- If desired, apply a little glue to the open ends of the folded down top piece.
- Apply adhesive to the two small bottom flaps, fold one of the larger flaps on, and adhere the other flap with adhesive, forming the closed bottom of the box.
- Insert the 1-3/4" x 4" piece of Evening Evergreen to strengthen the bottom of the box. You may glue it down if desired.
- Stamp (and/or emboss) an image or sentiment on the large scrap of Evening Evergreen, die cut and adhere to the front of the bag with dimesionals.
- Insert goodies into gussetted cello bag, tie with the Evening Evergreen ribbon and pop it into the box bag.
