Nuts About Squirrels

The moment I laid my eyes on the Nuts About Squirrels set, I knew I had to have it. The images brought be right back to my time at UNH, watching those cute little critters romp over the vast campus lawns. They always put a smile on my face. As a homeowner, I know that squirrels can pose problems, but nevertheless, I love them. They are adorable, and I think the artists at Stampin' Up! did a great job designing this set.

Here are the step-by-step directions to recreate this card.

  1. Begin with a Very Vanilla card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored in half at 4-1/4").
  2. On a layer of Bumble Bee cardstock that measures 4" x 5-1/4", stamp the oak leaf image randomly over the layer using Bumble Bee ink. Adhere this layer to the card base.
  3. On a piece of Very Vanilla (2-3/4" x 4") and using Early Espresso ink, stamp the tree limb in the lower left and then stamp the squirrel outline image so that it positions the squirrel on the limb.
  4. "Color" the squirrel with the coordinating fill stamp using Crumb Cake ink.
  5. Add oak leaves in Bumble Bee and Cajun Craze inks, then add the veins using Early Espresso.
  6. Stamp "Happy Birthday" in Early Espresso in the upper right.
  7. Adhere the layer to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock (3" x 4-1/4") and adhere both to the base at a slight angle.
  8. Affix three Brushed Metallic Dots.
  9. On the inside of the card, stamp a sentiment and add a squirrel.
  10. Add a squirrel or leaves to the envelope to coordinate.

Here's the video if you'd like to watch me make it:
