What's in YOUR purse?

Image
I recently stumbled across a video of a cute paper purse (thanks Handmade by Trish) and immediately knew I had to recreate it. It's so simple and, best yet, it requires very few supplies! You'll want to make lots. Directions Beginning with a piece of non-directional 6"x6" DSP, score on one side at 2-1/4" and 3-3/4". Rotate a quarter turn and score at 1-3/4" and 4 1/4". Fold and burnish all score lines. Cut as shown on diagram below. Fold in side flaps and adhere to the inside of the front flap. Fold the top of the front flap that extends above the side flaps over and adhere. Repeat for back of bag. Punch the tops of the sides in slightly. Beginning with a 1-3/4" x 2-1/4" piece of cardstock, add faux stitching around the edges. Note: if you want the front corners of the bag closure to be rounded, do so before adding the faux stitching. Use a bone folder to train the bag closure to round. Adhere the back of the bag flap to the back of the ...

Tigeriffic Birthday Greetings

Image
The Jungle Pals stamp set and dies are so adorable. Both are Sale-a-bration items, which means you can get them with a qualifying purchase...the stamp set with a $50 purchase and the dies with an additional $100 purchase. I'm not sure which animal I like best, the sloth or the tiger. Or maybe the toucan or the lemer. See? It's hard to pick. I just know that they are really cute wild animals. Measurements Thick Basic White cardstock (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 -1/4") Basic Black cardstock (3-1/4" x 4-1/4") Basic White cardstock (3" x 4", scrap) Granny Apple Green cardstock (scrap) Parakeet Party cardstock (scrap) Lemon Lime Twist (scrap) Black and White Gingham Ribbon (about 12") Directions Stamp tiger in Memento Black ink onto Basic White scrap. Color using Blends and die cut. Die cut several leaves out of various greens. Lightly add some Balmy Blue to the top of the 3" x 4" Basic White layer to simulate sk...

It'll Bee in the Bag!

Image
I've got just a little more of my Bee Mine DSP left, so I thought I'd show how to create a cute little bag that'll hold several cards and envelopes. Or socks. Or candy. But it really is perfect for cards and it goes together so simply! Measurements Bee Mine DSP (bee pattern with Petal Pink honeycomb on reverse): 7-3/4" x 12 Sweet Sorbet cardstock: 3" x 3-1/2" Petal Pink cardstock: 2-3/4" x 3-1/4" Basic White Cardstock: 2-1/2" x 3" Daffodil Delight: scrap Sweet Sorbet Bordered Ribbon: 9" Directions Score DSP on the long side at 4-1/2", 5-1/2", 10" and 11". Score DSP on the short side at 1" and 6-3/4". Burnish on all score lines. Fold the top down (toward you) so that 1" of the honeycomb side shows at the top. Adhere it so it stays down. On the bottom, cut off the square that is attached to the side with the 1" scoring, then cut up on each vertical score line just until it hits the 1" horizo...

Valentine Series Episode 4: Treat Pouch

Image
I love making treat holders and this one is great because it goes together so quickly, yet looks like it took some time. Directions Start with a piece of DSP that measures 5" x 6-1/2". You want the pattern to be running portrait in nature, even though it looks like the pouch is landscape. On the long side, score at 1/2", 1-1/2", 3-1/2" and 4-1/2". On the short side, score at 1", 1-1/2", 3-1/2" and 4". Burnish all score lines. With the wrong side up, fold the 1/2" end strip toward you (so the pattern that is on the outside is only showing that 1/2".  Apply Tear & Tape on the 1/2" end strip and also along one of the wide sections along the long sides. See diagram. Remove the backing from the Tear & Tape on the 1/2" end strip and fold the end opposite of the DSP to meet the folded edge of the 1/2" strip. Remove one of the smaller Tear & Tape piece backings and squeeze ends together as you pinch the sid...
