On the FIFTH Sunday of Christmas...

Image
On the fifth Sunday of Christmas, Sharon shared with me...how to create a gift bag from 12 x 12 DSP. These are easy to make, a great way to use up that hoard of DSP, and a great way to create a gift bag that coordinates with a gift set of cards! Directions Note: It's important to determine if your paper works with the "turn down" at the top. Take a peak to make sure the pattern that gets turned down is oriented correctly.  Cut both pieces of DSP to 9" wide by 11" tall. Score each piece at 2" on all four sides.  Fold down the top and burnish. With top still turned down, fold and burnish remaining sides with bone folder. On DSP Piece 1, cut up the bottom score lines 2" (to the horizontal line). Apply Tear & Tape along the score line and outside edge of the flaps you just created. Remove liner tape and form the bottom of the bag. On DSP Piece 2, cut up the bottom score lines as before, except remove the two flaps completely. Apply Tear & Tape as ...

Daisies aren't FALL flowers...or are they?

Image
When I think of daisies, I think of early summer. But with a change of color palette, they can certainly be suitable for fall. I mean, I wouldn't turn down a delivery of daisies at any time of the year, would you? Measurements Pretty Peacock card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored and folded in half at 4-1/4") Fresh as a Daisy DSP (two 4" x 5-1/4", scrap for envelope) Basic White cardstock (2-1/4" x 2", 3" x 4-1/4") Copper Clay Textured Ribbon (about 8") Directions Adhere one of the DSP layers to the front of the card base, and the other to the inside. Adhere the larger Basic White layer to the inside. Stamp 'Thank You!" in Pretty Peacock ink on the smaller Basic White layer).  Apply a layer of adhesive (I used Seal+, but regular Seal, glue dots or most any will work) underneath where the sentiment layer will go. Fold ribbon in half, offset ends a bit and stick to card where the adhesive is. Adhere the sentiment layer to the ri...

On the FOURTH Sunday of Christmas...

Image
On the FOURTH Sunday of Christmas, Sharon shared with me - a stand up easel treat holder. This is perfect for keeping Post-It Notes or Dimensionals handy, or playing Secret Santa with a package of hot chocolate mix. CARDSTOCK/PAPER SUPPLIES & MEASUREMENTS Balmy Blue cardstock (4-1/4" x 11, 4 1/4" x 6-3/4") Pretty Peacock cardstock (4" x 4" and 2-3/4" x 4") A Walk in the Forest DSP (3-3/4" x 3-3/4", 3-3/4" x 2-1/2") Basic White cardstock (scrap for bear) DIRECTIONS If starting with a full sheet of Balmy Blue cardstock, cut in half vertically. Cut one of the halves down to 6-3/4" long. Beginning with the -1/4" x 11" piece of Balmy Blue, score on the long side at 1/2", 1-1/2", 2-1/2" and 6-3/4". Starting on the end with the large sections, mountain fold, mountain fold, valley fold, mountain fold to get easel shape. Apply Tear & Tape to the small 1/2" section near the score line and form...

On the THIRD Sunday of Christmas...

Image
On the third Sunday of Christmas, Sharon shared with me... an envelope that will never get confused with a bill! This is a great way to package a flat(ish) gift, or to give a special certificate. Best of all, you can make envelopes of all sizes using the method I'm about to teach you. Measurement: You'll need a square of DSP that is 1" larger on each side than the length of the diagonal of what you'll be putting in the envelope. Directions Measure the diagonal of the contents of the envelope. Add 1" and cut a square of DSP that measures that per side. Place the square so that it looks like a diamond, with the points pointing North, South, East and West. Refer to diagram below. Place the object that will go inside the envelope in the center of the square so that the top and bottom edges of the object run East and West. Starting with one DSP point at a time, fold it up onto the object, creasing the DSP where it meets the object. Unfold and repeat with each other po...

FALL in Love with Autumn Leaves

Image
It's just about peak season in southern Maine and the colors are, as always, gorgeous. I was inspired to create a card that mimics what I see outside, and I think I accomplished it with some reinkers and watercolor paper. Oh, and the Autumn Leaves bundle, of course. Cardstock/Ribbon Measurements Crumb Cake cardstock (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored and folded in half at 4-1/4") Crumb Cake cardstock scrap Basic Black cardstock (4-1/4" x 5-1/2") Fluid 100 watercolor paper (one 5"x 7" sheet) Wavy Trim (about 8") Directions Set up your color palette by dropping 2 drops of each reinker onto separate areas of a plate, palette dish, aluminum foil, etc. Apply a liberal amount of water to Fluid 100 paper using the largest Water Painter brush. It's best to work in smaller sections (1/3 of the paper at a time). Dip the small or medium Water Painter into the Crushed Curry ink and then touch to the wet Fluid 100. Repeat with other colors, moving from lightes...
