Christmas Sleigh Decor

Image
It's been a great Christmas in July week and tonight's project was one I've been planning for a couple months! Last spring, I created a home decor element with a beach theme, so I knew I wanted to create something that could get me through the other six months of the Maine year (nine months?). I created one off camera (the one immediately below, and then I let those watching along with me give input to create the one you see directly below that (red). Because this was a Christmas in July video, I'm going to give the directions for the red version. The frame is a 8" x 8" frame I got on Amazon. The finished size is 9" x 9".   Paper Supplies   Real Red cardstock (8" x 8") Basic White cardstock (6-1/2" x 6-1/2", scraps) One Horse Open Sleigh DSP (full sheet) Directions Stamp the horse/sleigh image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a large Basic White scrap. Color with assorted Blends and die cut. Die cut several of the snow mound die im...

Just Lovin' the Alternate Christmas Palette!

I love the options Stampin' Up1 is giving us this year for Christmas. I just saw the Sept-Dec Mini Catalog (available digitally to demonstrators today, not until September for customers) and there are so many fabulous options. But there is an option that is available right now that is every bit as lovely (and popular) as items in the mini catalog, and that's the One Horse Open Sleigh DSP/Horse& Sleigh bundle! The colors are so rich and the nature scenes so peaceful! These items will go long after Christmas, especially if you live in the Northeast, where winters are long. Measurements of Consumables Lost Lagoon card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored and folded in half at 4-1/4") Early Espresso cardstock (4" x 5-1/4") One Horse Open Sleigh DSP (3-3/4" x 5") Basic White cardstock (4" x 5-1/4", scrap) White Glittered Organdy ribbon (11-12") Directions Cut the DSP sheet to the above measurement to give the portion of the scene you w...

What a Christmas Treat...Container!

Presentation, presentation, presentation. Just like location matters to a house's value, presentation matters to a gift's value. Taking the time to create a gift that is beautifully presented can turn an inexpensive gift into something extra special. Here's a box that measures 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" x 1-1/4".  Cardstock and Ribbon Measurements Garden Green cardstock (10-1/2" x 6") Gold Foil sheet (3" x 3") Basic White cardstock (2-3/4" x 2-3/4") Red & Gold Dotted ribbon (about 24") Directions On the long edge of the Garden Green piece, score at 1-1/4", 4-3/4", 6" and 9-1/2". Turn and score on the short edge at 1-1/4" and 4-3/4". Cut the score marks on each long edge up to the closest score line and miter the square tabs only. Use a circle punch or die to create a finger notch in the center of one of the short edges. Fold square tabs in and adhere to form box. On Basic White layer, stamp wreath in ...

It's a Tag, It's a Card, It's...Both!

It's Christmas in July! I've got projects/videos for you each day, July 24-28 and this is the first one! It started out as a Christmas tag and turned into a Christmas card! The background was inspired by the pattern on the reverse of the blue snowy field pattern from the One Horse Open Sleigh DSP you see on the tag.   Measurements Thick Basic White card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored and folded in half at 4-1/4") Misty Moonlight cardstock (2" x 4", scrap) Basic White cardstock (2" x 4") One Horse Open Sleigh DSP (2" x 3") White Glittered Organdy Ribbon (about 14") Directions Insert the Misty Moonlight layer into the tag topper punch (I used the retired Scallop Tag Topper, but you can still get the similar Fancy Tag Topper from the Clearance Rack) and punch. Repeat with Basic White layer. Adhere the DSP to the Misty Moonlight layer, leaving a small bit of the Misty Moonlight showing at the bottom. Die cut the tree image from the M...
