It's a Wonderful Watercolored World

Image
Today's post is a twofer! You'll get two cards out of one technique. I recently attended a webinar hosted by Stampin' Up! for demonstrators where a myriad of watercolor techniques were shown and taught. This one I had never seen in my 25 years of stamping. I don't even know what to call it! Measurements (2) Thick Basic White bases (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored in half at 4-1/4") Watercolor Wonder DSP (4-1/2" x 5-1/2") Watercolor paper layer (3-1/2" x 4-3/4") Orchid Opulence layers (3-3/4" x 5", scrap) Basic Black layer (3-5/8" x 4-7/8", 1" x 3-5/8") Basic White layers (3-1/2" x 4-3/4, 7/8" x 3-1/2", scrap) Directions Blend Starry Sky, Orchid Opulence and Gorgeous Grape inks randomly onto Watercolor Paper with Blending Brushes. Surf's Up!

I love the ocean, especially around 7pm on a summer night. That's when the beaches are much less crowded, the air is cooler and there's just a peace that settles over things. I suspect it's quite nice very early in the morning also, but I just can't get out of bed to verify. Maybe this project will inspire you to visit and verify for yourself that the beach really is a special place. Measurements (full list of supplies at the bottom of post) Thick Basic White card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored in half at 4-1/4") Pacific Point cardstock (large scrap) Shimmery White cardstock (at least 3" x 5-1/2") Tahitian Tide cardstock (at least 3" x 5-1/2") Basic Gray cardstock (small scraps) Directions Create an abstract background on the Shimmery White using the Smoosh Technique ( see last week's post ). I used Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point on mine. Allow to dry completely. Apply adhesive sheet over the back of the Shimmery Whit...

Let's Hit the Beach!

There's nothing like walking along the water's edge, dipping your toes in the water, collecting seashells, etc. If you don't live near the beach or, like me, you live in a beach community and avoid it during tourist season, you can always recreate the feeling with stamps, ink and paper. Even better, you can share your love of the beach with a friend! Measurements (full list of supplies at the bottom of this post) Sahara Sand card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored in half at 4-1/4") Shimmer White layer (4-1/4" x 5-1/2") Very Vanilla cardstock (4" x 5-1/4", scrap) Directions Add 3-4 drops of Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point reinkers to waxed paper (or better yet, acetate), then spritz with water. "Smoosh" (touch...how hard or soft depends on the look you are going for) the Shimmery White layer onto the waxed paper/acetate surface, picking up the ink/water. Continue doing so until you get the desired results. Dab with a pap...
