Torn Effect Technique

Image
A couple weeks ago, I came across a simply sympathy card that beautifully showcased the New Horizons DSP from the January-June mini catalog. And then I had a need for a couple sympathy cards last week, so I whipped out my DSP and some Basic White cardstock and had some beautiful cards in minutes. Tonight, I made one a little cheerier, then showed several other examples, which can be found at the bottom of this post. Measurements (for sample above, but other cards shown use different sized layers) Thick Basic White card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored in half at 4-1/4") Basic White layer (4" x 5-1/4") New Horizons DSP (2" x 3-1/2") Pear Pizzazz scrap Directions Identify the portion of DSP that you want to showcase. Tear a strip 2/3 of the way across the Basic White layer. You should be pulling on the piece that will be folded back. Tear off a little of the Basic White strip you've torn so that it's not so bulky when rolled/folded. Adhere down us...

I needed a quick card that I could make from a remote location as I was preparing for my New Catalog Launch Party. The new Good Feelings set, an In Color and the new Sun Prints DSP did just the trick! Measurements (full list of supplies can be found at the bottom of this post) Starry Sky card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored and folded in half at 4-1/4") Sun Prints DSP (4" x 5-1/4", 4" x 1/2") Basic White layer (3" x 4-1/4", 4" x 5-1/4") Directions Adhere large piece of DSP to front of card base. Stamp "Sending Sunshine..." sentiment on the smaller Basic White layer using Starry Sky ink. I stamped slightly on the diagonal. Affix dimensionals to the back of the Basic White layer and adhere to card front on a diagonal. Add rhinestones as desired. Adhere small strip of DSP near the bottom of the larger Basic White layer, then adhere this to the inside of the card. Friday Night Live Facebook Video of the Process STAMPIN' UP...

Shake Up Some Cheer!

When I saw the Bottle Happiness set in the new Stampin' Up! catalog, I knew I had to have it. For as long as I could remember, my father collected little bottles. So many bottles. They lined the tops of the cabinets, sat on shelves, became little flower holders, etc. My father passed away about five years ago, so this memory is all that more special. Having this set (and coordinating punch) connects me to my past. Measurements for Consumable Supplies (complete supply list at the bottom of this post) Sweet Sorbet card (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored in half at 4-1/4") Sweet Sorbet layer (3" x 4-1/4") Basic White layers (two 3-1/4" x 4-1/2", 5/8" x 1") Pretty Prints DSP (two 1" x 3-1/4") Ribbon (8-9") Directions Stamp the floral images (the flowers in Petal Pink and the leaves I Sweet Sorbet) at the top of one of the Basic White pieces. You may want to do Steps 2 and 3 first in order to ensure your bottle ends up where you want it....
